Shortwood Solutions Limited was formed in 2017, with a focus of providing excellence in the Offshore Renewables sector. Our mission is to provide the highest quality High Voltage consultancy services which are at the cutting edge of engineering innovation and technology. We aim to maximise the availability, reliability and efficiency of your systems. We are dedicated to delivering innovative and effective solutions that meet the unique needs of our clients.
We can provide servies both On and Offshore across the Energy Sector; Transmission lines, Power Stations, Substations, Wind Turbines - we have the experience to work with them all.
Our Managing Director is a Chartered Engineer who has worked in the Energy Industry for over 18 years, with experience working at across a broad area of the Industry. He started out at a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Station; during his time here, he developed the skills needed to become an Authorised and then Senior Authorised Person and this was the building blocks to a solid understanding and experience in the industry. Throughout this period, he developed a keen interest in Energy Generation and during studies at the University of Hull this became focused upon the Renewable Energy sector. When the opportunity arose to join one of the UK's Transmission Owners, it therefore seemed the natural progression route for our Managing Director's career progression. In this role, he worked as part of a team that facilitated the connection of numerous Renewable Energy projects to the Grid and the upgrade of the infrastructure to allow it to cope with the growing demand for Renewable Energy connections and the Grid’s ability to transmit the energy to the rest of the UK. This experience built further on the previous foundations set and increased his expertise and this ultimately led to the creation of Shortwood Solutions Limited.
Since then, Shortwood Solutions has provided services for large businesses working in the Renewables sector both on and offshore, in the UK and abroad, with a combined capacity to date of over 2.7GW of clean, renewable energy added to the Electricity Grids. Our Managing Director has continued with studies in this field, completing a Master of Science Degree in Sustainable Energy Solutions through the University of Highlands and Islands further increasing their knowledge in this crucial sector in our pursuit of NetZero.
